I made the two day round trip journey to
Glasgow from Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull to go to my first ever ballet –
'The Nutcracker' by The Scottish National Ballet. The Theatre Royal in Glasgow is a typical
Victorian theatre with really splendid plasterwork and a very ornate
ceiling.The music was impeccable and
the dancing joyful and captivating.I
found the set design very odd and plain, felt like a real waste of an opportunity
with badly painted flats (in parts I could see the design underneath that had
been painted over!) and pieces of set falling over!! In one scene a dancer's
foot knocked over a set piece as well....very distracting!
